The Pioneer House
Between Maryville and Knoxville, Tennessee – Then and Now
The Pioneer House – U.S. 129 One Mile North of Knoxville Airport
I have a lot of memories of this place. I must have seen lots of postcards that I don’t have now. It’s all very familiar. The postcard sort of says it’s “restored,” but maybe it was just made to look old.
Today it’s in rough shape. It’s been abandoned for a while and is on a prime piece of real estate that will likely mean it will be gone any day now.
This sign is very familiar in my mind. At the bottom right is a rotting piece of farm equipment.
Peeking through the windows revealed an eerie site. The tables were set and everything was just like they were opening tomorrow and tomorrow got cancelled.
